Media personality and poet, Apiorkor Seyriam Ashong-Abbey has been chosen as a judge for the maiden edition of the public-speaking contest, Rhetoric Open Mic.
Apiorkor, a broadcaster and senior producer at Citi FM and Citi TV, is also a writer, literary critic and versatile creative.
Her work is noted for its rare narrative, prosaic nature, which is uncommon, in poetry. She has also been commended for the sharp, vivid imagery of her pieces.
Being a seasoned performance poet as well, Apiorkor is expected to bring the magic of her expertise onto the judging panel of Rhetoric Open Mic.
The audition of the contest is scheduled for Friday, August 16, 2019, at the Stratcomm Africa offices at Asylum Down in Accra.
Rhetoric Open Mic is a competition for artists in the public speaking space. This includes poets, events MCs, motivational speakers, comedians, among others.
Participants would have to record a 1-minute interview of themselves reciting a poem, giving a speech, granting an interviewing or making a powerpoint presentation.
Post the video with the hashtag #rhetoricopenmic and tag Stratcomm Africa. Participants will be asked to do a freestyle presentation on any subject at the auditions.
For their prizes, the best participants will be given free training from Stratcom Africa in public speaking and media interviewing skills.
They will also get the opportunity to perform at Stratcomm Africa events.
