Henry Agyekum-Chemphe known in showbiz as Chemphe has drifted from urban life music to gospel music.
The silky-voiced singer who is preparing to release his gospel single ‘Mi Do Yesu’ has disclosed that his decision to do gospel stems from his encounter with God.
“I was born with the gift of singing and I want to pursue that vision because that is what has been bubbling in me ever since I can remember”, he said.
“It further expresses a deep posturing of who I am with Him and in His presence this is written on my heart as a daily surrender because am totally surrendered to Him”, Chemphe added.
He stated that his music has always been to liberate people in relationships or bring hope to the down-hearted.
According to Chemphe, he did not get into gospel music for financial gains but to turn people’s heart to Christ.
“My focus is on God and not the industry….my faith is to trust in Him as I head towards Him. Any distractions, I will have my eyes and ears closed to,” he told arts writer Lucy Baagyei-Danso in an interview.
He admonished other entertainers to allow themselves to be used by God to affect people through their songs and win souls for God.
Champhe has to his credit, songs like ‘Kroko No,’ ‘Why You Dey Beat am,’ ‘One People’ and ‘Yaa Mansah.’
