The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department [CID], of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Maame Tiwah Addo Danquah, has charged female accountants to challenge themselves to reach greater heights in the profession.
Maame Tiwah, who doubles as the Vice President of the Association of Women Accountants, Ghana AWAG, called on her colleagues to be motivated by their counterparts occupying key positions in the country.
Speaking on the theme “My story” at the launch of AWAG’s Mentorship program, she said “ I have never seen myself as a boss, I always see myself as one of the subordinates. It’s the way you manage the people that’s what will make them work for you. If you don’t handle your co-workers with care, it will affect their output, so I decided to do things differently.”
She added that her style of leadership in and out of the work environment gives others the opportunity to approach her with all manner of issues, ranging from personal to work-related concerns.
“Somebody comes to me for help, if I can’t even help with the entire two hundred Ghana Cedis, I give hundred or fifty Ghana Cedis. There are times I assist people to solve long-standing problems just by a phone call”
She therefore encouraged others to do same.
