The aftermath of the Chinese illegal miners being sacked from Ghana in 2013 has not only left a negative effect on the finances of women they had babies with while here, but also psychological effects on the children.
According to a BBC Pidgin documentary produced by Favour Nunoo, the mixed-race children and their parents are mocked by society due to the situation.
The illegal mining space in Ghana has seen many foreigners with Chinese majority mining gold and degrading the environment, but the government has in the past 15 months taken a strong view of the situation and instituted various stringent measures to get rid of them and save the environment.
This has resulted in the deportation of many more Chinese, some of whom have settled with Ghanaian women and had children with them, resulting in more mixed-race children, specifically in the Western Region.
