After being mauled for supposedly disgracing Ghanaian women with her ‘sex-for-money’ comments in CNN interview with celebtrated journalist Chrisiane Amanpour, Ghanaian actress and model, Moesha Boduong, has explained that it was not her intention to put Ghanaian women in a bad light.
According to the actress, she holds Ghanaian women who work hard to fend for themselves in high esteem and that her comments were unfortunate.
“… It was definitely not my intention to offend any of you. I respect all the hard working women of our beloved country and accept that some of my utterances were not a reflection of what happens in most homes…,” she stated in an Instagram post.

“..I have had a lot of time to think and reflect and I APOLOGIZE TO ALL, ESPECIALLY MY AFRICAN SISTERS…,” she noted.
In a 2017 interview yet to air on CNN, portions of which have flooded social media, Moesha told Christiane Amanpour how hard it was for the Ghanaian woman to make a living in Ghana.
She said hard economic conditions in Ghana make Ghanaian women date married men for survival.
“In Ghana our economy is such a way that you need someone to take care of you. You can’t make enough money as a woman here. Because even when you want to get an apartment, in Ghana they take two years’ advance and I just started working. Where will I get money to pay?” she had told Christaine Amanpour.
When Christiane asked if Moesha basically had sex with men to pay her rent, she responded in the affirmative.
“Because he can afford to take care of you. He takes care of me, my financials, my apartment, my car, my rent, everything,” Moesha replied.
Moesha’s comment, has stoked a debate on what motivates women to date men who are married or have several mistresses.
Her critics felt that inasmuch as she was entitled to her private lifestyle, she had not right to make a generalized statement on such an international platform to denigrate Ghanaian women.
Moesha, who had earlier rebuffed the criticisms and said people were being hypocritical, has now in Instagram post apologized to Ghanaian women, saying that she did not mean to generalize her assertions.
