The Ashanti Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) has welcomed Government’s action plan to help curb the rising road crashes in the country.
Mr. Samuel Asiamah said government’s intention is a “step in the right direction”, furthering that the proposed GHC 335 million will ” help to reduce the crashes on our roads.”

About 70% of roads in the Ashanti Region are in deplorable conditions, and Mr. Asiamah believes the allocated funds would ensure that roads are fixed.
From January 2018 to March 2018, road accidents have claimed 80 lives in the Ashanti Region with about 200 crashes recorded.
In the past few days, about 27 lives have been lost in separate road accidents across the country.
The government in its bid to curb the rising spate of accidents in the country is set to implement a new action plan.
This was made known in a statement by the Deputy Information Minister, Perry Okudzeto, which stated that GHC 335 million will be provided by the government to resource the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Urban Roads and the Department of Feeder Roads over a three year period to help reduce the rising number of road accidents.
