President Akufo-Addo has called on all Ghanaians to support the programmes initiated by his administration in order to attain the level of development and growth envisioned for the country by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The President made the call at the launch of the Coordinated Programme of Economic and Social Development policies earlier today [Wednesday] April 11, 2018, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

“I can confidently state that actions have already begun on many of the flagship programmes under the agenda for jobs. The remaining will witness inception shortly. It is my conviction that the effect and impact of these initiatives and many others articulated in the document will go a long way to ignite and sustain the transformation we are craving for our nation and bring us close to achieving sustainable development growth,” he said.
According to the President, the support of the populace was key to ensuring the realization of the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda of his administration.
“Today, I’m calling on public servants, private sector operators, organised labour, actors in the informal sector, members of the media, institutions for research and learning, civil society actors, religious figures, traditional authorities and friends of Ghana to join hands in ensuring that this national clarion call, resonates so that we usher in a new era to create jobs for our people to set off on a new epoch of Ghana Beyond Aid and to generate prosperity and equal opportunity for all, he added.”
Speaking at the same event, the Leader of the Minority in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, questioned why given the importance of Ghana Beyond Aid to the government, the mantra was not integrated into the policy document.
He added that his group in Parliament would serve as a ‘loyal reminder’ to the President to fulfill all the promises they made to Ghanaians prior to taking office.
“As you take our country through the long, real journey to a modernized Ghana, Mr President, at all times consider the political opposition as your loyal reminders. I’ll remind you today, of some of the things that are lost in this document,” he said.
“I’ve perused through the document and conspicuously lost in it is Ghana Beyond Aid, the vision of the President, what happened? That should anchor because the President has articulated that nationally, even though he has not shared with us the time limits, it’s certainly a shared idea that we must move our country beyond aid.”
The launch is in fulfillment of a constitutional provision which mandates the President of Ghana to present a codified set of policies within two years of assuming office.
The document, which has been dubbed “Agenda for jobs: Creating prosperity and equal opportunities for all covers the period from 2017 to 2024.
It was presented to Parliament in November 2017 in line with Constitutional requirements.
