Police in the Eastern Region have begun investigations into the death of a teacher at Asesewa in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region.
The teacher, Regina Mintah, was found dead in her room on Thursday morning after her room was forced open by the police after a report by fellow tenants.
Her co-tenants were alerted by the stench emanating from her room, although she had told them that she was travelling for a holiday.
According to ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident to Citi News, the police are working towards conducting a post-mortem on the deceased.
“On April 18th police in Asesewa, CID received a complaint from Moses Tetteh and Smart George Gbli who are both tenants with Minta Regina a teacher at Asesewa, that they could smell a bad odour from Regina’s room even though they believe she is on holidays after schools vacated.”
“They informed police that they had tried several times to reach the teacher on phone but they had not been successful so police accompanied them to the house where upon forcibly entering the room they found the semi-decomposed body of the teacher kneeling with the head resting on the bed with blood stains on the floor.”
ASP Ebenezer Tetteh added that, “upon careful search and inspection of the room nothing incriminating was discovered so pictures were taken and the body was sent to the Asesewa Government Hospital for preservation as we make arrangements to transfer it to the police hospital for post-mortem examination. We therefore want the general public to assist us with information that can help us with our investigations.”
