A trader and motor rider have been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly robbing a physically challenged man of GH¢250.00.
Michael Ackah, 24 and Gerald Kofiga, 20, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.
They will reappear in Court on April 20.
Police Superintendent Patience Mario told the Court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that Omar Sidibe, the complainant is a teacher and physically challenged whilst Ackah and Kofiga are a trader and motor rider respectively.
The complainant resides at Darkuman Alafia whereas Ackah and Kofiga lived at Kaneshie and Darkuman Quarters respectively.
On March 25, this year, at about 4 am, Sidibe was escorting his girlfriend on the Darkuman Kete road when the two accused on a Haojin motorbike with the registration number M- 16 GR 2460, pretending to have lost their way to Darkuman Nyamekye, a suburb of Accra, approached Sidibe for direction.
The prosecution said after Sidibe had given them the direction the two refused to move making him suspicious, so he asked his girlfriend that they moved away from them.
On their way, Ackah and Kofigah caught up with them when they were about to board a taxi.
The prosecution said Sidibe on seeing them again threw his Infinix mobile phone into the taxi cab and asked the taxi driver to move his vehicle.
They two realising what has happened ordered the taxi cab to stop but the taxi sped off.
The act infuriated the accused and thus rushed on Sidibe drawing a weapon and asking Sidibe to surrender all his personal effects.
The prosecution said Ackah then seized the complainant’s walking stick making him give out his GH¢250.00 to Ackah.
Ackah then threw his walking stick back to him and started moving away when suddenly a private car pulled up and knocked the two accused on the motorbike down.
The Prosecution said though they were wounded they attempted to run away from the scene but were arrested by witnesses around and handed over to a police patrol team.
They were then sent to the Police Hospital for treatment.
On April 3, Kofigah, was discharged and the two were arraigned.
