The contest for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP), Regional Executive Positions in the Volta Region, is getting heated with an emerging two-horse race between the outgone Secretary and Communication Directors for the office of the Regional Secretary.
Although three candidates are in the race, it is clear in the minds of most delegates that victory lies between Joseph Homenya and Enoch Amegbletor.
The third candidate, Innocent Tetteh is also making efforts to rub shoulders with the two outgone executives who were instrumental in coordinating campaign activities in the Region, during the last general elections.
The duo, who are familiar faces in the eyes of delegates, have been crisscrossing the entire region meeting delegates and their soliciting supports in this crucial moment.
Enoch Amegbletor, a Mechanical Engineer by profession and Communications practitioner, has been the party’s Deputy Youth Organizer and later rose to the position of Deputy Director and Acting Director of Communication in the region.
Joseph Homenya, a Banking Person who resigned his job to join active politics after playing active roles at the constituency levels, was the outgone Regional Secretary and currently the Regional Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority(NHIA).
Joseph Homenya is confident his work as Secretary would speak for him and consolidate his quest to be retained.
Enoch, on the other hand, believes the office needs much more attention thus, his major contender; Joseph may have divided attention managing the NHIA and the party office. He added that he [Enoch] has since their inception of power a considerable experience coordinating the party and the government as an attaché to the Volta Regional Minister and would bring this experience to bear if voted into power.
In a rebuttal, Joseph explained that working and serving the party would instead empower him economically to support other activities of the party since the office of the Secretary is not a paid job.
He disabused the minds of many who think serving the party as an executive will end to their economic woes.
Joseph and Enoch who are both unperturbed are optimistic about their victory on Saturday 22nd of this Month when the Regional Executive Elections are held.
