The Builsa North constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region have described as unfortunate, utterances by the NPP Member of Parliament for Assin North Kennedy Agyapong, that the District Chief Executive for the constituency, David Afoko, is sabotaging party in the district.
According to the executives, Mr. Agyapong was being ill-informed by some mischievous and self-seeking persons in the district, and so the allegations should be treated with the contempt it deserves.
Mr. Agyapong is purported to have said recently in a media interview that “Paul Afoko’s brother [is] sabotaging NPP in Builsa North”.
In the said publication, he accused the DCE, David Afoko, of awarding contracts to NDC members to the detriment of NPP members.
He also alleged that, the DCE attends funerals in NDC pickups and has sent as protocol list with names of NDC members for employment into the Forestry Commission, depriving party supporters of jobs.
But Speaking at a press conference in Sandema, coalition secretary, Adama Dunwell Akuma dey, said the allegations by Mr. Agyapong are “false, porous and without any evidential value”.
He called on well-meaning Builsas and members of the NPP fraternity in the constituency to disregard the mischief by some disgruntled individuals who are against the progress of the district.
Mr. Akumadey stated that, at no point has the DCE David Afoko awarded projects or given jobs to NDC members nor attended funerals in an NDC pickup.
“We finally entreat all such faceless, mischievous and self-seeking individuals and groups in the constituency whose divisive actions are always injurious to the progress of the party to desist from such despicable acts and rather channel their energies ,time and resources at building the weak party structures at the grassroots which the DCE David Afoko is working on to ensure victory for the party in the constituency come 2020,” he said.
