Church of Pentecost elects Apostle Nyamekye as new chairman

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the area Head of Koforidua has been elected as the new Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (COP), to take over from Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah who retires this year [2018].

Apostle Nyamekye received an overwhelming endorsement by the Electoral College and the General Council of the church on Thursday at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa Fetteh.

As part of the church’s process to elect a new chairman, the Electoral College gave Apostle Nyamekye 147 ‘Yes’ votes as against four ‘No’ votes out of the total of 151.

The General Council went ahead to confirm him with 994 “Yes” votes as against 14 “No” votes out of the total 1,058. One person abstained from voting.

The Area Head of Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Apostle Nyamekye, would replace Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah who is retiring on Saturday May 5, 2018.

The church will on August 26, 2018, hold a retirement service at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa Fetteh for Apostle Prof Onyinah who retires after 42-years of service.

Apostle Prof. Onyinah took over from Apostle Michael Ntumy in 2008, and served for 10 years.
