The Builsa South District Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers who had allegedly planned to rob traders at the Fumbisi market.
The suspects were arrested by the police when residents suspected their presence in the area to be strange and lodged a complaint with the police.
The Builsa South District Police Commander, DSP Eric Agbenyega, told Citi News that, the suspects are currently in police custody assisting in investigations.
“Today is a Fumbisi market day and some three men using Kadema side of the road passed through Kadema from Bolga to Fumbisi with their notorious intention of robbing traders….But when they got to Fumbisi market, luck was not on their side as residents observed them and quickly informed the police leading to their arrest”.
DSP Agbenyega said the police retrieved two locally manufactured weapons from them after a search.
He stated that the suspects are currently with the Sandema Police and would soon be arraigned.
He added that, the suspects were from Pooligu, a suburb of Bolgatanga East District.
Two men killed in daylight bank robber at Pelungu Market
In April 2018, four suspected robbers shot and killed two young men at the Pelungu market in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.
The four suspected robbers, on two motorbikes, attacked and robbed a First Allied bank agency branch at Pelungu, and later shot indiscriminately, killing the two people.
Narrating the incident to Citi News, Assembly Member for the Damolg-Tindongo Electoral Area, Emmanuel Seluk, confirmed the incident and said the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hpsital mortuary.
