Kwame Annor, the Chief Human Resource (HR) Officer of newly merged AirtelTigo has reportedly resigned from the company after successfully leading the strategic integration of people and processes of Ghana’s second-biggest telecom provider by subscriber numbers.
His resignation, according to sources in the company, takes effect from June 2018.
The versatile HR professional, who was recently named as one of the top HR practitioners in the country is leaving the company after successfully leading a winning talent strategy first for Airtel Ghana and subsequently for AirtelTigo for a cumulative 5 year period.
Kwame Annor was appointed as Chief Human Resource Officer for AirtelTigo in November 2017 following a highly competitive recruitment process post approval of the highly publicised merger of Airtel and Tigo Ghana by the National Communications Authority late 2017.
During his tenure as HR Chief of the telecom giant, aside successfully integrating employees for the merged entity, he is credited with overseeing the harmonisation of HR processes, the development of a robust and equitable compensation and benefits structure and for effectively managing the retrenchment process for the company in accordance with Ghana’s labour laws.
A brief internal memo, announcing his exit by the CEO of AirtelTigo, Roshi Motman, read: “I deeply regret to announce the decision of Kwame Annor, our CHRO, to leave AirtelTigo to pursue personal interests outside the company.”
“Kwame, a consummate professional has successfully overseen the implementation of our strategic talent agenda, leading the integration of our people, the harmonisation of HR processes, the retrenchment process and the development of HR policies to put us on a sound footing to realise synergies from the merger as well as to support our bold ambition of becoming a leading telecom operator in Ghana. I am grateful to Kwame for his wise counsel, support and ownership over the last 8 months and I wish him well in his future endeavours,” Motman said in the memo.
Kwame Annor joined Airtel in December 2013 as Senior HR Manager, Compensations and Benefits and later as Head of HR Operations and Business Partner for Commercial functions.
By dent of hard work and exemplary leadership, he rose through the ranks to become Head of HR and subsequently HR Director spearheading the transformation of the company’s HR function to support the company’s bold growth ambitions.
Under his leadership, Airtel Ghana received a number of awards including Best Company in Performance Management by HR Focus Magazine as well as being named one of the best places to work in Ghana.
Kwame Annor is multi-talented HR leader with over 10 years senior management experience across multinational telecom, services and FMCG companies.
His expertise includes HR policy and procedure development, talent acquisition and development, organisational design, employee relations and labour law.
