Police in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region have declared war on the sale and abuse of narcotic drugs in the area.
The Divisional Police Command has vowed to clamp down on persons engaging in the sale and the use of illicit drugs.
The warning comes after the command burnt 3,254 wrappers of weed and other illicit drugs which they seized from various locations in the area.
The drugs were seized at Konongo Freetown, Konongo Yard Six and Odumase.
Cannabis farms were also destroyed at some of these locations.
Speaking to Citi News, the Asante Akyem Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Ohene Boadi, said they are committed to deal with the menace of illicit drugs.
“The police want to protect the future leaders in this town hence the need to rid this area of all drug peddling activities,” he affirmed.
“We will intensify our patrol of all known drug peddling locations in this area in order to tackle the canker,” he added.
