Kola Olayinka now heads operations in Ghana

British Airways has announced new changes in its Ghana operations targeted at making the airline more efficient.

As part of this, Kola Olayinka, British Airways’ Regional Commercial Manager, West Africa, revealed the airline will be moving to a new office building in Accra’s Airport Residential Area in the coming weeks.

Kola Olayinka will now be directly responsible for British Airways in both Ghana and Nigeria.

“There are quite a few new changes across board, and for an airline that has been operating in the country for over 81 years, it is exciting for us that we are always able to anticipate and keep up with the market,” he said in a statement.

The biggest change involves Kevin Leung, the head of British Airways’ Commercial operations in Ghana and Kenya leaving to a new UK-based role, as Commercial Development Manager for Europe and Africa.

“Just like his predecessor, Moran Birger, Kevin was doing some amazing work for BA in Ghana, and I am not surprised at all that he has gained a promotion in recognition of this,” Kola Olayinka noted.

The airline will set up an additional office in the new Kotoka Airport Terminal 3 building once it opens for operations later in 2018.

British Airways has also announced an investment of £4.5 billion over next five years, which will involve new aircrafts, upgraded lounges, on-board WiFi and the use of biometric technology to speed up passenger boarding.

The airline will also launch 13 new routes by the end of 2018, including three weekly flights directly from London Heathrow to Durban, South Africa.
