An Accra Circuit Court remanded an unemployed man, Christopher Mordey, into Police custody for the possession of drugs without authority.
The accused pleaded not guilty and will reappear on Friday, June 15.
Chief Inspector K. Adu told the court, presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that complainants were Police personnel stationed at Baatsonaa, whilst the accused person was unemployed and lives at Kotobabi Market area, Baatsonaa.
He said the Kotobabi Market area was a heterogeneous community and has been identified as a hub for criminal activities including narcotic drug peddling and usage.
He said on May 28, at about 1900 hours, the complainants, acting on intelligence, conducted a swoop at the Kotobabi Market area and arrested the accused in possession of a number of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The Prosecution said the accused, in his caution statement, in the presence of an independent witness, mentioned one Prince as the real owner but admitted ownership of one of the wrapped dried leaves also suspected to be Indian hemp.
