MTN Ghana has pledged to strengthen its long-standing relationship with the Muslim community across the country.
According to the telecom operator, it sees people living in those communities as major contributors to national development and the company’s growth over the years.
Management of the company said it has for the past 11 years extended its support to the Muslim community in various ways such as the annual donation to the National Chief Imam, Regional Chief Imams in Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, and sponsorship of Sallafest in Nima and Accra Newtown.
Management has indicated that the company will continue to support the Hajj Board with its products to facilitate their work as it did in 2017, by refurbishing the lodging area at the Hajj Village with over GHc200, 000.
Mobile Money Manager in charge of the Northern Business District, Steven Asare, spoke on behalf of Senior Manager, Customer Services and Credit Management at MTN, during the company’s presentation to the Regional Chief Imam towards the 2018 Edul Fitr celebration at the Kumasi.
The company presented a cash donation of Ghc 2,000.00, Bags of Rice, Cartons of Vegetable Oil, boxes of Mineral Water, packs of soft drinks, a Ram and airtime worth Ghc 300.00.
Mr. Asare said the company is also sponsoring the 19th edition of Nima Sallafest, which is the largest gathering of Muslims in Accra and Accra New Town Sallafest.
“Your Eminence, distinguished Imams and Elders of the Muslim Community, our donation today goes to affirm our appreciation for your support, patronage and loyalty to MTN .We thank you once again for your continued support to our activities and for the warm reception we have enjoyed over the years”, he stated.
He called on the Muslim community to embrace the recently launched Initial Public offer (IPO) which gives opportunity to every Ghanaian to own part of the company.
He explained that the shares are going for 0.75p per share, and one can purchase in multiples of ten (10) which means that with just Gh¢ 7.50, one can own shares in MTN Ghana.
Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Abdul Moomin Haroun, commended officials from the MTN Ghana for the gesture.
He prayed for the prayed for the company and urged them to continue to roll out initiatives that will impact positively on national development.
