Some fans of hiplife artiste, Fancy Gadam, have been confirmed dead in a gory accident in Tamale.
Several wounded victims have also been rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for medical care.
According to Mohammed Hafiz, the entertainment chief at the Tamale chief’s palace who spoke to Citi News, six people have been confirmed dead so far.
However, Citi News sources also suggests that two more have died bringing the number to eight. The bodides of the deceased have been deposited at the Tamale Hospital morgue.
The fans were going to the Tamale Airport to welcome Fancy Gadam and his Nigerian counterpart, Patoranking for a mega show scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018.
An eyewitness narrated that the accident occurred when a vehicle conveying some of the teeming fans, collided with an oncoming vehicle that had a tyre burst, causing the driver to veer off the road.
Some cars branded in Zylofon Cash colours, one of which was carrying a public address system for tomorrow’s concert, were also at the accident scene.
It is however unclear if anyone from the Zylofon Cash team was involved in the accident.
As part of the concert, the Zylofon team is expected to organize a health walk tomorrow. But with the turn of events, it’s unclear if the concert willl go ahead.
Fancy Gandam is one of the most celebrated musicians in the Northern Region of Ghana, and has a huge fan base who constantly support his shows.
Gadam, who picked up an award at this year’s Ghana Music Awards, was given a rousing welcome when he returned to Tamale.
