The National Security Ministry has said it has developed a multi-agency approach aimed at dealing with any form potential terrorist attack in the country.
The plan is to harness the expertise of the police, the military and other security agencies to fortify the country’s boarders against terrorism.
[contextly_sidebar id=”3hEPfFjOEfspF2StBvO575XPx3AxerLL”]According to the Director of Counter-terrorism at the National Security Ministry, COP (rtd) George Asiamah, the approach has adopted best practices on terrorism fight around the world.
Speaking at a two-day workshop on West Africa National Security and Armoured Vehicles, COP (rtd) George Asiamah said there is the need for multiagency cooperation to fight terrorism.
“To fight terrorism, we have to go by the multiagency approach, no one state agency can fight the threat, we all need to come together to fight the threat, that is why we have the multiagency approach and that is what has informed what we are going to do today”
There have been a number of terrorist attacks in Mali, Cote d’ Ivoire, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and some other West African countries in recent years.
This has led to some fear that these terrorist groups could target Ghana next.
