The Ministry of Youth and Sports have moved to quash growing reports that the draw for the 2018 Women’s Afcon will be held in Cairo instead of Accra.
It emerged that in a bid to cut cost the Sports Ministry in conjunction with the Local Organizing Committee had decided to have the draw staged in Cairo.
However the Ministry have denied the reports and have stated emphatically that indeed Ghana’s capital will host the draw during the stipulated date that is yet to be announced.
“I can tell you emphatically that the draw will not be held in Cairo as earlier speculated.
“The draw will be held in Ghana.
“CAF stipulates that the draw be held within three months to the tournament.
“We are aware of this and I can tell you that the draw will be held in Ghana,” spokesperson for the Sports Ministry Elvis Adjei Baah revealed.
