The Lions club of Tema together with four other sister Lions clubs in collaboration with the Tema Municipal Assembly, have organized a cleanup exercise at Tema Community Four.
The exercise forms part of the Tema mayor’s flagship programme ‘Tema restoration agenda’ which is aimed at restoring Tema back to its original state.
The exercise started from the Tema community 10 junction through to the evergreen supermarket right to the Chemu Senior High School.
The President of the Tema Greenwich Lions Club, Foster Asempa Antwi, indicated that the exercise is to sensitize residents of Tema to take issues of the environment serious.
“We have chosen to embark on this exercise to ensure that our environment is clean and also inculcate into residents and our members the need to practice cleanliness as a habit”
He added that apart from the environment, Lions club international has over the years been engaged in addressing other societal challenges.
Mr. Antwi hinted that plans are far advanced to put up the biggest eye centre in Prampram to ease the pressure on the Tema General Hospital.
Members of the association numbering about one hundred together with a section of the residents and a team from the sanitation department of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly partook in the exercise which lasted for about four hours.
