As part of efforts to improve on sanitation and healthcare in the Tatali Sanguli District of the Northern Region, the Member of Parliament for the area, Tampi Acheampong Simon, has donated motorbikes to the district.
The donation is to help in the movement of staff of the district’s environmental and sanitation departments, and workers in CHPS compounds.
The motorbikes are expected to help in sensitization on the need to end open defecation and to practice good hygiene in the district.
The Tatali Sanguli district is noted as having the least number of people without toilet facilities in their homes.
Presenting the items, the MP noted that, the gesture will go a long way to help the departments in carrying out their duties effectively.
“This motorbike is to facilitate your work so that you will be able to reach the hard-to-reach communities to sensitize them on issues regarding their well-being. I hope our district will maintain its position on the ODF league table as the number one district in the region with the least number of people engaged in open defecation. With this donation, we should be able to achieve that.”
He noted that health delivery is a major challenge in the district, adding that the provision of the motorbike will help the health workers in the various CHPS compounds to be able to do community visits.
“On health, it is our hope that the issues of maternal mortality will reduce in the district as you will be able to visit the communities for sensitization. I want to entreat that those motorbikes are used for the purpose and not for personal use. Let’s do that collectively to serve our people.”
The District Health Director, Mohammed Abdulai, expressed his gratitude to the MP and promised that the items will be put to good use.
He cautioned the staff who will be using the items to desist from the misuse and be diligent and professional.
