Four out of the six newly created districts in the Eastern Region have endorsed persons nominated by President Nana Addo as Chief Executive Officers for the newly created districts.
Assembly members in the newly created districts, New Juaben South, Okere, Asene Manso Akroso and Atiwa West all managed to confirm their various president’s nominee’s with a 100 percent endorsement with only Fanteakwa South rejecting the president’s nominee.

At the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly which was the venue for the confirmation of the president’s nominee Isaac Oteng Appau, the 50 assembly members who were all dressed in white voted 50 yes to endorse Ike Appau Gyasi as the new Municipality Chief Executive Officer for the Municipality.
Similarly at Okere District which was supervised by the Minister of Local Government, Hon Hajia Alima Mahama, Dan Kwaku Botwe the Member of Parliament for the area and the National Democratic Congress NDC constituency chairman for the area.
All 29 assembly members present as at the time to endorse the president’s nominee Daniel Kenneth popularly known as Nana Addo with 29 votes.
The Minister of Local Government Hajia Alima Mahama who was impressed with the proceedings commended the assembly members and residents of Okere.
“This is the second confirmation exercise am witnessing apart from my own district Naliregu, and I must say am very much impressed with the kind of unity I have seen here today. This shows why your MP Dan Botwe always brags with this district every time.”
“It is not everywhere you will find opposition leaders coming around to support governing party like this, and this shows that Okere District is united for development indeed. I want to assure you that if there is any structure which needs to be built in any district assembly Okere District will be the first to be considered; I will work very hard to make sure this district improves and succeed because I know you are united”.
Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo who witnessed the confirmation of Alex Incoom the president’s nominee for the position of the District Chief Executive Officer for Asene Manso Akroso (AMA) was also impressed when all 32 assembly members voted for the nominee.
The situation at Kwabeng in the Atiwa West District was however not that smooth as it took the timely intervention of the Minister of Roads, Amoako Attah who is the MP for the area and Eric Kwakye Darfour, the Eastern Regional Minister for Assembly members to endorse the president’s nominee Isaac Akomaning Asamoah after second round of voting.
The nominee was rejected in the first round after attaining 15 Yes votes out of a total 25 votes managed to secure all 25 votes after a brief consultation meeting of assembly members with some senior party executives.
Tensions were high at Osino after the Assembly members rejected the president’s nominee for the position of the District Chief Executive Officer of Fanteakwa South District Assembly, Ntori Agyabeng.
Family members of the President’s nominee who had come to support and cheer their relative on were left disappointed when 15 assembly members out of 25 present voted against him.
The Eastern Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfour in an interview with Citi News expressed disappointment.
“I’m very disappointed with what has happened here today, it is a new district which is about carving their bright future and this disappointment is not good for such a new district. You saw the looks on the staff of the assembly and the residents as well, it is not the best for development but I have to report to the president, give him the feedback for him to consult with the appropriate stakeholders to take the next line action to either renominate Ntori or a new person to be confirmed”.
Citi News sources within the New Patriotic Party’s Regional Office indicates that Mr. Ntori Agyabeng the president’s nominee who was rejected by Assembly members at Osino in the Fanteakwa South District is likely to be renominated by the president.
President Nana Addo is however yet to name nominate a person as the new district chief executive officer for the Abuakwa North District.
