Some youth in the Volta Regional capital, Ho, largely mobilized on social media, on Saturday held a clean-up exercise at the Ho Central Market.
The exercise, organised by OPK Entertainment in collaboration with Salaria Eyemed, Zoomlion Ghana and the Ho Municipal Assembly with support from Mac-Tash, Mac D, Christwell Logistics, Lions Club of Ho, NAM Mission, Citadel Hotel and Sweden Cleaning Services is an annual project to improve the sanitary conditions in the market.
The youth numbering over one hundred swept the area and desilted drains along the market.
The exercise lasted for about five hours and also included free health screening for traders in the market as well as waste management workers who participated in the event.
The President of the group, Bismark Opoku told citinewsroom.com that the exercise was necessary to imbibe the spirit of volunteerism and a culture of good hygiene among the youth.
He added the traders in the market through the annual exercise have appreciated the need to do business in a clean environment.
He encouraged users of facilities in the market to keep the market clean to ensure good health and a more profitable business.
