The youth of Buipe traditional area in the central Gonja district of the Northern Region have dismissed the claim that Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor masterminded the relocation of a new hospital project from Kabilpe to Yipala near Buipe township.
On Tuesday, August 7, 2018, the youth of Mankpan traditional area demonstrated against the central Gonja district new hospital project’s relocation and took a swipe at the Buipewura and the District Chief Executive, Dr. Mustapha Mahama.
In a petition to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, they threatened chaos and anarchy if the decision was not reversed.
But the youth of Buipe traditional area at a counter news conference on Friday, August 10, 2018, rubbished the allegation and urged the general public to disregard it.
Led by Chief A.R. Adams, the Buipe youth in defense of Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor maintained that the Mankpan youth allegation was baseless.
Chief Adams described the Mankpan youth action as a calculated attempt to subject Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor to public ridicule.
Chief Adams stated that “It is a complete falsehood that the hospital project was scheduled to be built at Kabilpe.”
“We wish to categorically state that all the issues raised by the youth of Mankpan traditional area with regards to the said hospital project are nothing but lies and orchestrations to throw dust into the eyes of the general public.”
He challenged the Mankpan youth to produce documentary evidence to buttress their claims.
“The fact of the matter is that the chiefs and people of Buipe traditional area started appealing to the government for the building of a hospital at Buipe to augment the many health challenges in the area since time immemorial.”
“Consequently, during the Gonjaland Youth Association Congress on 4th April 2015 at Buipe, His Excellency the former President John Dramani Mahama announced the approval of the government to build a hospital and an accident centre at Buipe,” he narrated.
Chief Adams urged the Youth of Mankpan traditional area to desist from actions that could destabilize the area.
