The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Saturday donated an Ambulance, a number of wheel chairs and medical supplies to the Juapong Health Centre as part of activities to mark his 38th birthday.
The move, he said forms part of his resolve to improve health service delivery in the constituency.
“We don’t have an Ambulance in the North Tongu District. And the whole of Ghana I’m told it’s only 54 ambulances that serves the citizens. So it was my wish that, on my birthday, if there is anything I would like to do, then I would love to make history by being the first MP for the Area to have donated an Ambulance to my people to help solve their health needs in emergency situations,” he said.
The former Education Minister explained that the ambulance would be helpful in improving the emergency response system in the constituency which has a challenge with transporting patients in times of emergency.
He said the ambulance is one of the three to be donated to the three sections of the constituency.
He added that the constituency under his leadership has seen a lot of development in areas of health, education and transportation, and called on constituents to help him succeed in improving lives.
The Chief of the Area, Togbe Ananze Tritriku XII, who together with residents were excited about the donation thanked Okudzeto Ablakwa and wished him well on the occasion of his birthday.
“We the people of Fodzoku, Togorme, Volo and Dofor, want to say thank you. We are grateful and wish you well on your birthday,” he said.
The items donated were valued at GHS 100,000.
