Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for North Dayi constituency, George Loh is convinced he would emerge as the party’s next Volta Regional Secretary after the NDC’s primaries.

He is battling the position with three others namely, James Gunu, Manfred Nuku-Dei and Simon Amegashie-Viglo.

The NDC is currently in the process of organizing primaries for its regional and national executives.

It has slated vetting of aspirants for the regional executive positions for 1st to 6th August 2018.

I’m unperturbed by vetting

[contextly_sidebar id=”pZYrSJkam5wSdOVoVEWDNcDjjwXwK56V”]Ahead of the vetting, George Loh in a Citi News interview said he is excited about the exercise saying he will surely excel.

“I have attended some vetting as well, so I am not expecting anything spectacular. I believe that the vetting process is to ensure that you qualify to contest…I am upbeat about my chances but you know that this is a delegates’ election but I am counting on these delegates,” he added.

When asked about his chances, Mr. Loh said: “I believe in the qualities I possess and the capabilities I have and the delegates have vowed to move with me.”

About 54 contestants are vying for various executive positions in the NDC in the Volta Region.

I’m confident of leading Volta Regional NDC – Attivor

Former Minister of Transport under the John Mahama administration, Dzifa Aku Attivor, who is also seeking to become the party’s Chairman in the Volta Region is confident the delegates would give her the nod.

“I am confident that I will sail through because everybody knows me in NDC. I have contested parliamentary primaries before; I have been a minister; so I don’t know what will disqualify me so I am optimistic that after the vetting I will be approved to continue the good works I have been doing,” she added.

Nominations opened

In July 2018, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) opened nominations for regional executives.

The party had already elected its constituency executives.

These series of elections form part of the party’s process of electing national officers and a presidential candidate ahead of the 2020 election.
