The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the placements of 423,134 students who have successfully made it under the 2018 Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

This is out of 521,710 total registered candidates. It means 67,382 could not be placed under the system.

The over 400,000 will also begin the double track system introduced by government.

The system, which begins this September will see one sect of students in school whiles others are on vacation.

In a release by the GES, it said candidates are to visit www.cssps.gov.gh to access their placements.

It said candidates placed on the GREEN TRACK will resume on September 11, 2018, whereas the GOLD TRACK will resume on November 8, 2018.

Management of GES further advised candidates who could not be placed to visit the CSSPS portal to choose from a number of available schools with vacancies.

Government has explained that the double-in-take is meant to cater for the spike in enrollment into Senior High Schools (SHSs) due to the free SHS policy.

Double track system, a catalyst for productive education – Nana Addo

President Akufo Addo at a recent meeting with the Ghanaian community in China indicated that, adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a successful implementation of the system.

He added that the double track system will improve productive education in the country.

“So this year, we are applying a policy which we are calling the double-track system which is essentially a semester system that allows us to be able to accommodate all of these 180,000,  but even in better conditions because you are rotating the use of the facility. We are going to have smaller class sizes, the teachers are going to have more opportunity to be with their wards, and there will be even more times for holidays and that is going to generate a much more productive education system than what we had up until now.”
