The ten finalists for Citi FM’s Literacy Challenge have been announced ahead of the final leg of the competition in October.
The ten were selected from the 50 shortlisted Junior High School students who participated in the essay competition and the aptitude test held at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences over the weekend.
The 10 are:
- Quashie Maame Safoa – Yahweh International
- Jason Gabriel Kumah – SAPS School
- Nyameye Obeng Akuamoah – Kay Billie-Klaer
- Henry Kwesi Anumel – Silicon Valley Int. Sch
- Christabel Ampadu – Silicon Valley int. Sch
- Akiwumi Ayola Gladys – Madonna School
- Ayeyi Atta Kakra Anim-Addo – Christ The King International
- Genevive Budu – Lighthouse Christian Mission School
- Ashitey Aaron Armah – SAPS School
- Loretta Seyram Ahiable – Christ the King Int. Sch
After the aptitude test session, all the 50 contestants were given medals and hampers for making it through the first phase of the competition.
Each contestant was also given GHc50 by Databank as seed capital for Edifund, an educational investment policy.
The 50 were selected from the thousands of students who submitted essays under the instructions: “The year is 2035, the law allows people below age 40 to contest for the presidency. You are a Presidential candidate in the general election, in not less than 600 words, write your manifesto speech”.
