President Nana Akufo-Addo is urging the new generation of African youth to change the negative and barbaric stories about Africa.

President Akufo-Addo said the misconception about the African continent must be erased.

Speaking at an awards dinner in Kigali, Rwanda, where he was awarded for his contribution to education, Nana Akufo Addo said with the right leadership, Africa will be the best continent in the world.

The dinner, which was organised by the African Leadership University (ALU) was to honour President Akufo Addo for the introduction of the Free SHS policy which saw over 90,000 Junior High School (JHS) graduates benefit from the programme in September 2017.

The government has said over 180,000 more students will benefit from the programme leading to the introduction of the double track system.

Nana Akufo Addo said ‘’the only way Ghana and Africa can catch up with the Asians and Americans is through education and if we don’t do that we will always lack behind’’.

President Akufo-Addo is in Kigali for the African Green Revolution Forum(AGRF).

AGRF is a platform for global and African leaders to develop actionable plans that will move African agriculture forward.

The AGRF is considered the most important and impactful forum for African agriculture in the world, drawing stakeholders in the agricultural landscape to take practical steps and share lessons that will advance African agriculture.
