Citi FM’s educational programme, Literacy Challenge enters its second stage today, September 15, 2018.
At this level, the 50 Junior High School students who were shortlisted after the essay writing stage will write an aptitude test.
This test will take place today at the Ghana Academy of Arts and sciences in Accra.
The Top 50 students were selected after students across the country wrote speeches on a national topic.
The topic was: “The year is 2035, the law allows people below age 40 to contest for the presidency. You are a Presidential candidate in the general election, in not less than 600 words, write your manifesto speech”.
In the second stage, 10 students will be selected after the aptitude test for the third and final stage of the competition.
At stage three, the ten contestants will battle for the Grand Prize of GHc10, 000 in a classic general knowledge quiz.
About Literacy Challenge
The Literacy Challenge is aimed at recognizing and rewarding the efforts of the overall best JHS student, in Ghana. There are three different levels of the competition. At the first level, participants take part in the essay competition.
At level two, the fifty participants who have been selected will be required to take an aptitude test.
The number will further be reduced to ten, for a quiz competition on the third level.
The Literacy Challenge also seeks to engage contestants in a three-month-long, fun-packed, and education-driven set of activities, which will propel young Ghanaians to develop literacy skills beyond just reading and writing.
The 2018 Literacy Challenge is sponsored by Edifund by Databank and MoneyGram with support from CITI TV.
