The Chief Executive Officer of agro-business firm, B-BOVID, Issa Ouedraogo, has called on media organisations in Africa to throw more light on climate change and its impact on the environment.
Speaking during the launch of a programme to educate some 3,000 farmers and 1000 selected students on climate-friendly farming practices, Mr. Ouedraogo said local media must inform the public about the effects of the phenomenon as well as policies and programmes underway in other parts of the world to mitigate against it.
He said under the project, the participants will be educated to desist from agricultural practices which have been identified as detrimental to the environment.
Mr. Ouedraogo said Climate Change is a global challenge and Ghana must join hands with other nations in the world to tackle it through the adoption of climate-friendly farming practices.
He said B-Bovid farms employ climate-friendly techniques, thus ideal for students to visit, observe and learn tried and tested agricultural methods used around the world for climate change mitigation.
The Chamber Businessman for the year 2017 and the current Western Regional Best Farmer said local organisations such as his company, B-Bovid, need special government attention and support to enable them create more jobs to reduce the unemployment situation bedevilling the country.
The project, a collaboration between B-BOVID/TRACTOR and the German Climate Fund, targets senior high school students and farmers in the Western Region of Ghana.
