Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, is unhappy with the contractor working on a Green Park project at Tafo Zongo in the Ashanti Region for allegedly using some materials at the site deemed harmful.
The contractor has thus been ordered to reconstruct the park at his own expense.
“I have directed the contractors of the Green Park project at Tafo Zongo in the Ashanti Region to reconstruct the pitch at their cost,” the Minister said.
According to the Minister, he gave the directive because “upon a visit to the site, the team discovered that the filling used for the park contained sharp and harmful objects.”
“I was informed by officials of my Ministry that the contractors were cautioned earlier against using those materials for the project. This caution was not heeded to by the contractors.”
The Minister on his Facebook wall explained that the directive is to ensure value for money “for every project undertaken by the Ministry.”
About the Green Park project
The Green Park project is part of a GH¢15 million out of the GHc50 million seed capital allocated to the Ministry of Inner-Cities and Zongo Development for the construction of some 51 projects in 41 Zongo communities nationwide.
The projects began under the previous Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Siddique Boniface.
Aside Tafo, other areas that are to benefit from the Green Park Project include Salaga in the Northern Region, Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, Oda in the Eastern Region, and Yeji in the Brong Ahafo Region.
