Officers from the Ghana Fire Service in the Ashanti Region and Police have begun investigations to ascertain the cause of a fire outbreak at the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service.

The fire, which began at about 8:00 am on Sunday, left in its trail destruction at the office of the Regional Director and her secretary.

Items destroyed in the outbreak include laptops, televisions, fridge, files, fan and other electrical gadgets.

Reports say it took firefighters about 45 minutes to douse the raging fire which nearly spread through other offices at the directorate.

Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer for the GES, Mark Ofori, told Citi News that the Regional Director’s office was really affected by the inferno.

“The gravity of the fire that razed the office was very serious and intense. As at now, it will be difficult for me to know the various items lost, but I can speak with authority that the files at the Regional Director’s office, the furniture and any item within the four walls of the Regional Director’s office were all burnt,” he added.
