The District Chief Executive for Gomoa West District Assembly, Hon. Bismark Baisie Nkum, is set to travel to the United States of America to sign a Sister City Agreement with Mayor Steve Fulop of Jersey City, New Jersey, USA.
The signing ceremony, which is scheduled for Wednesday 24th October, 2018 at the City Council Chambers, is expected to be attended by a high powered delegation from the two cities.
The Ghanaian delegation would be led by the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Kwamena Duncan, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Hon. Alexander Kwodwo Abban and the Central Regional Financial Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kojo Ampah.
Heralding the ceremony will be an Economic Forum where presentations will be made by Bismark Baisie Nkum and Kwamena Duncan on investments potentials of the Gomoa West District, Central Region and Ghana as a whole.
The Sister City Agreement between the two cities is purported to increase trade volumes between Ghana and the United States of America and spur the socioeconomic growth of both for its people.
Baisie Nkum is living a dream of scaling down on poverty in his district and has set out a clear path with various social interventions and bold steps unprecedented in the history of the Gomoa West District Assembly including the opening up of a Market at Ankamu Junction which was left to rot by previous administrations, and launching of operation “One Million Coconuts” which has already employed lots of the youth in the district.
According to hon. Baisie Nkum “the programs of the President Akufo-Addo Government have solutions to transform society and is very attractive to international development partners, and that one does not need to reinvent the wheel but to conspicuously follow through”.
The delegation will use the opportunity to interact with a section of the Ghanaian Community in New Jersey.
Madam Vida Acqaah Graham, a community leader from Gomoa West District and a resident of Jersey City, reiterated the expectant mood and frenzy amongst the entire Ghanaian Community in New Jersey as the event draws closer.
Jersey City is a Financial and ICT hub and very multiracial with a dynamic Mayor who’s employing highly strategic unconventional means to ensuring the constant growth of the socioeconomic development of its citizens.
The Agreement will bother on Economics, ICT, Culture and Tourism, Health and Innovation.
