Ghana’s leading telecommunication service provider, MTN, has so far supported 100 needy but brilliant students nationwide.

Through its Bright Scholarships package, the beneficiaries are given learning materials and Ghs500 each term.

[contextly_sidebar id=”tc45FRiibXoyviuEevV7KoOem0rHJgax”]The scholarship package covers the cost of tuition, accommodation and a stipend for textbooks and handouts.

Samuel Koranteng, who’s an Executive in charge of Corporate Services at MTN, at the network’s annual media and stakeholders forum in Tamale, reaffirmed the company’s desire to use the Bright Scholarships programme to increase enrollment and decrease the number of school dropouts.

According to him, the MTN Foundation has since its inception constructed 142 projects across the country.

These include classroom blocks, dugouts and health facilities in deprived communities.

Samuel Koranteng said the MTN Foundation would invest more in the areas of education, health and economic empowerment.

According to him, the company in 2017 honoured its tax obligations to the tune of Ghs1.218 billion.

Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, urged the general public to beware of scammers and desist from giving out personal details especially mobile money personal identification numbers to unknown people.

“In order not to fall victim to any fraud associated with mobile money transactions, customers of MTN should never reveal their mobile money PIN to anyone including friends and family relations.”

General Manager of MTN in charge of the Northern Sector, Nii Adotey Mingle, promised that the company would address the network fluctuations in some identified areas in the region.

“Following concerns on poor network quality, some cell sites have been upgraded, whereas plans are far advanced to upgrade some places by 2019.”

Nii Adotey Mingle urged active MTN mobile money users to take advantage of the Qwikloan service to access quick cash and solve urgent needs.

He advised subscribers of the Qwikloan service to promptly repay and benefit more.

Senior officers of MTN addressed concerns raised by the participants reassuring customers of improved services.

The MTN Ghana Foundation was established in 2007 as a single purpose vehicle to drive all MTN’s CSR initiatives in the country. The Foundation currently has three focus areas – Health, Education and Economic Empowerment.

The Foundation was set up as a separate legal entity with its own independent Board of Directors and Patrons who oversee the operations of the Foundation.

Its commitment is centered around the socio-economic development of the country through the roll out of appropriate and sustainable social interventions in communities all over the country.

The main aim of the Foundation is to have a broad community impact and support national and international development priorities.

It facilitates partnership and sharing of resources to achieve mutual objectives.
