Puma Energy prioritises staff and customer lives with safety campaign

The storage and handling of hydrocarbons are highly risky, and as such, health and safety must be a core business pillar for all OMCs.

This is why Puma Energy, a global integrated mid and downstream energy company with a local focus, has launched its 2018 Safety Campaign for its staff, stakeholders and esteemed customers across the country.

Dubbed “Be Puma Safe”, the campaign seeks to combine the key areas of road and site safety to refresh both the knowledge and practices of staff, stakeholders and customers in these areas, as well as at Puma Energy’s close to 100 stations nationwide.

While Puma Energy makes it a priority to run safety campaigns each year, this year’s campaign has a twist. This time, it will extend to children, who will through this, acquire a wealth of safety knowledge and exposure through a series of educational and fun activities.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign, the Managing Director of Puma Energy Distribution Ghana Limited, Mr. Yahaya Yunusa, entreated all staff members to embody the safety values, not just during the campaign, but beyond.

“There is the need for all staff to embrace and live the Puma Energy safety requirements, not only during the launch and course of this campaign but more importantly beyond the life of the campaign. We should incorporate these into our daily activities, both at work and in our interactions with family and the wider community,” said Mr. Yunusa.

The Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Community (HSSEC) Manager, Mr. Gideon Owusu Brogya, further encouraged staff and stakeholders not to take safe behavior for granted.

“We may sometimes find safe behavior a nuisance, such as wearing protective gear and wearing seatbelts. However, these are the very same practices that can save our lives, so let us always remember that and remind each other,” said Mr. Brogya.

To see the campaign online, one may type the hashtag #BePumaSafe and follow the Puma Energy Ghana social media platforms to learn more.
