A new three-lane has however been constructed on the right side of the Akosombo-Accra road to ease vehicular movement.
Tema Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Superintendent Joseph Owusu Bempah, has urged pedestrians to obey road signs and to also cooperate with them.
“The construction of any road brings about inconvenience, so we should all help and make the work easy. We all have the inconvenience to endure because the road has to expand for the benefit of all,” he said.
Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has also warned pedestrians and hawkers to desist from crossing the Accra Tema Motorway indiscriminately,
Pedestrians and hawkers found in such acts would be arrested and prosecuted.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has promised to ensure that the road diversion works smoothly.
