The Ministry of Education has confirmed that it has deployed over 7,000 teaching and non-teaching staff to various Senior High Schools across the country.

[contextly_sidebar id=”oa8OJCdA5TBcbgGPyFuVQWGC7lTW4gWx”]This is in preparation towards the commencement of academic work for students under the Gold Track of the double track system.

The academic session for the Green Track ended on Wednesday.

Press Secretary to the Education Minister, Rodney Nkrumah Boateng explained to Citi News that the deployment was done based on specific school needs.

“Essentially each school that is on the double track let us know the number of teachers they needed for which particular subject so the deployment is strictly along the line of the requirement of the various schools. Recruitment was done well so it is not an issue of somebody moving from Accra to Wa or somewhere like that so that transportation will not be so difficult. People have been notified, they’ve printed their posting letters and they are supposed to report to work,” he said.

Students under the Gold Track faced some enrollment challenges earlier but the Education Ministry gave assurances that the challenges will be addressed before the start of their classes.

The double track system will see two groups of Senior High School students the country with one enjoying vacation while the other complete their academic session.

I’m impressed with double-track take-off – Nana Addo.

Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo said he was already impressed with how the double track system had taken off within selected senior high schools across the country.

He says despite the initial challenges; the policy has been well accepted.

Speaking at a meeting with the Ghanaian community in New York, Nana Akufo-Addo said the implementation of double track system had been good so far.

“Government so far has worked very well. The first stream which is the green stream has taken off successfully. And in November, the yellow stream will also go and it seems to have gone on very well.”

President Akufo-Addo hailed the Minister of Education, Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the Deputy Minister for Education in charge of General Education, Yaw Osei Adutwum for the roles they played in ensuring that the double track system is rolled out as planned.
