Mobile phone users have been given a new opportunity to use another quality product from Huawei ahead of the Christmas season, with the launch of Huawei Y9 smartphone.
The Huawei Y9 2019, a sleek product largely targeted at the youthful population, was launched on Thursday November 8, 2018, at the plush Tang Palace Hotel in Accra.
The Huawei Y9 is a 5.93-inch smartphone with a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM, with a Kirin 710 octa-core processor. Weighing 173g, the Huawei Y9 spots a 4000 mAH battery, which ensures 65 hours of music, 9 video hours as well as up to 52 hours of GSM calls.
The Marketing Manager for Huawei Ghana, Dennis Fixon Laryea, said the Y9 is one of the few smartphones to feature four Artificial Intelligence (AI) cameras as well Wi-Fi bridging features that are not common in the smartphone market.
“This is the first device in the market that has a 6.5 FHD+ display notched screen. It is also the first phone in the market that has 4 AI cameras – 2 at the back, 2 in front. And this is the first device that comes with a Wi-Fi signal bridge where you can bridge your Wi-Fi to other people,” Dennis Laryea said.
He explained why the phone, which sells for Ghc 1,099 is considered a youthful device.
“The Y means Youth or Young, so basically this is a youthful device with very high specs at very affordable price. So we are telling people not to break their bank to get that special-feature phone they want, but then you have to use a little of your money to get that special phone you want. For those who like taking selfies, there is no point in stressing to look out for which of the photos to post after taking them with the Y9, all that you need is a click and you are good to go” he said.
Simon Lui, CBG West Africa, said Huawei’s continuous growth in the global market and its increasing brand influence have benefited from its multi-year commitment to technology innovation and R&D investment.
According to Huawei’s annual report, Huawei’s R&D investment for 2017 was RMB 89.7 billion, accounting for approximately 14.9% of the revenue, and the accumulated R&D expenses over the past ten years exceeded RMB 394 billion.
He added that in the future, Huawei will continue to innovate its products and technology whilst surprising consumers, with a commitment to make its brand truly loved by global consumers.
