Citi News’ Philip Lartey has been honoured at the Ghana Logistics and Transport Awards (GLOTA) for his efforts at holding various stakeholders of the transport sector accountable in 2017.
It was a night where the transport sector affirmed the importance of the media in ensuring accountability in all facets of the transport industry.
The 2018 GLOTA, the first of its kind, was under the theme “Driving the Growth of Ghana’s Logistics and Transport Sector through Effective Recognition System”.
Don Obilor, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee stressed the importance of his work to the average Ghanaian.
“…Little things he reported that mattered; like streetlights, like potholes, broken down vehicles. Those are the things that cause the carnage on our roads. Without such reportage, you would be surprised that more of those things would happen.”
Kwabena Ofosu Appiah, the President of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders commended Philip and the media generally for their work.
“Our industry is not an industry that you come to take juicy news. It’s so technical. Some of the things when you report, nobody even understands you. But for you to keep at it and make sure that you try as much as possible to explain the hints that we give for people to get that understanding of it, we must say kudos to you.”
The Chair of the occasion also spoke highly of Philip Nii Lartey saying, “for the news reporter that was singled out as the best reporter, I believe that you are a role model and I believe also that your work will not end here. You have to be knocking the doors of all the award winners.”
Other awards given were the Best Freight Forwarding Company of the Year, Beast Courier Service Company of the Year, Best Commercial Transport Company of the Year and Best Haulage Company of the Year.
Apex Shipping and Commercial Company was awarded the Overall Logistics and Transport Excellence Award.
OA Travel and Tour was the best Logistics and Transport Employer of the Year.
DHL was also singled out as the Best Courier Company of the Year.
