Present at the short presentation ceremony were management and staff of Ashfoam, as well as GJA President, Roland Affail Monney.
Presenting the award to Mr. Avle, Communications Manager of Ashfoam Ghana, Nana Yaw Ampem Darko, congratulated Mr. Avle, and urged him to keep blazing the trail.
“We at Ashfoam value the work that journalists do in this country. We believe that the development of the country, peace and unity that we enjoy is not the same elsewhere because the journalists in Ghana are quiet responsible in delivery. We are urging all of you to continue this great job that you are doing. We believe that in the coming years, you will raise the bar higher. Now we are talking about developmental issues; that is what we all look up to instead of the sensationalism and other things that do not help us. We congratulate you once again on behalf of Ashfoam management and we say kudos!”
On his part, Mr. Avle thanked the leadership of GJA for the honour, and appreciated the gesture from Ashfoam describing same as an ‘added bonus’.
He pledged the continuous support of the station for indigenous companies to develop the country.
‘First, I have to thank Mr. President [Affail Monney], for being adjudged Journalist of the year. I wasn’t expecting it. It was not part of my agenda when I was giving my prayer topics to God at the beginning of the year. So it’s a real big surprise and I am very happy.”
“But look, I am so happy to be receiving this particular prize. Being journalist of the year is honour enough even if you do not have anything because it opens doors everywhere you go. People are inviting you to give speeches and things because you are the Journalist of the year. So this is an added bonus”, Mr. Avle stated.
