Calbank Ghana Limited on Sunday held a thanksgiving service to thank God for a successful business year.
Staff of the bank gathered at their new multipurpose head office in Accra to thank God for seeing the bank through its challenges as well as meeting most of their targets for the year 2018.
The service saw Greater Accra regional staff of the bank clad in their white dresses, sing and dance in what was an emotional yet an exciting and jubilant service.
The theme for the service was; “Ceaseless praise”.
Staff of the bank who had served in various roles for ten years and more were also honored at the service.
Head Pastor of KICC Ghana, Pastor Andy Yawson, in his sermon encouraged staff of the bank to be grateful to God in all areas of their lives.
He said “there is the need to thank God for obvious reasons” adding that it is a good Christian practice to show gratitude to God.
He also urged the staff of the bank to be true to themselves as practicing Christians, and resist all forms of temptations to engage in dealings that go contrary to the laws of the bank and the country.
“The ultimate sacrifice is to give your life to God. That is walking in the obedience of God… After all is said and done, what God is looking for, is your life in entirety”
“In order to show gratitude to God, let’s be true to ourselves as practicing Christians” Pastor Andy Yawson said.
In his end-of-year message to the staff, the Managing Director of Calbank, Frank Adu Jnr., also thanked God for sustaining the bank in what has been a difficult year for the industry.
In his address, he challenged the staff of the bank to make the bank better than when they first joined the bank.
He was however optimistic that 2019 will be a better year for the bank despite all the successes chalked.
“It is my hope that 2019 will be a much better year, with the economic indexes of the country looking much better”
Calbank meets BoG’s minimum capital requirement.
The Managing Director of the bank also announced that Cal bank has officially met the minimum capital retirement set by the Bank of Ghana, which is currently at 400 million.
Mr. Franklin Adu Jnr. also thanked his staff for the commitment and hard work in the year under review.
“I am pleased to announce to you that due to your hard work and commitment, we have met the minimum capital requirement of the bank”
Bank won’t shield customers, staff caught in fraud
Mr. Frank Adu Jnr however gave a strong indication that the bank will not shield any staff or customer engaged in any form of fraud.
He explained that one of the bank’s biggest challenge still remains tackling fraud related cases in the cyberspace.
Mr. Frank Adu Jnr. also disclosed that a staff of the bank was jailed this year for stealing from a client.
“You would by all means be found out, this gentleman withdrew money from a client’s account by forging the signature, his family has however returned the money, but he is facing up to four years jail time” the MD said.
