The Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has declared Mr. John Sterlin, its 2016 Parliamentary Candidate in the Komenda- Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) constituency, as its sole candidate for the 2020 polls.
Mr. Sterlin was the only person who picked up a nomination form in the constituency at the end of the party’s nomination period.
The Constituency Chairman of the party, Mr. Benjamin Dzantor, who declared Mr. Sterlin as the candidate, called on supporters and party members to “begin work immediately since we are poised to annex the KEEA seat in 2020.”

Speaking to Citi News after his declaration as the sole candidate, Mr. Sterlin said he’s optimistic of snatching the seat from Samuel Mills in the 2020 polls.
“Being acclaimed as the sole candidate gives me more inspiration in the sense that the last time we were two, and I won. I believe that the 2016 election was won by me and not the NDC. Since after the election and two years down the line, people that voted for NDC tell me about their regrets for voting for the NDC. And I have NPP people telling me the same thing.”
“From my own background across the constituency, all the elected executives are showing signs that they are really geared towards a win in 2020. That alone gives me enough confidence and I believe I have what it takes to be in Parliament. If I get the go ahead in 2020 to get the go-ahead to go into Parliament, politics in Ghana will change,” he said.
Although Mr. Sterlin agreed that parliamentarians do not undertake capital intensive projects on their own, he said the current crop of parliamentarians are not doing enough with regards to lobbying for projects and development for their people.
“I believe that our parliamentarians are not doing enough to help their constituents. They are not the people who will bring development but they can initiate and lobby. I want to go to Parliament to show that besides making legislation, our parliamentarians must go out there and lobby and try to get things for their constituents,” he added.
