Some delegates voting in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries have been unable to locate their names in the party’s electoral registers.
These few instances, recorded in at least four regions, are the only blemish on the NDC’s presidential primaries so far.

According to the Ho Central constituency elections director, Pascal Agbagba, allowing them to vote despite the absence of their names may create some confusion within the camps of the various aspirants.
“There is no way we can allow them to vote because the register that we are dealing with is what the candidates are having so we cannot record a number here than what the candidates are having,” he told Citi News.
The voting process in the Asufuano North Constituency of the Bono Region was also delayed with election officials struggling to locate the names of some delegates in the voter’s register.
Ashanti Regional Executives of the NDC have also said they are working to ensure more delegates vote as some of the voters including former appointees, cannot find their names in the register at some voting centres.
In the Western Region, three constituencies recorded missing names of legitimate voters.
The Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Stephen Opoku Mensah who is supervising the elections in the 26 constituencies of the Western and Western North Regions told Citi News that the problem was recorded in constituencies such as Ellembelle, Essikado-Ketan and Bibiani-Ahwiaso-Bekwai.
“In some cases, there are some lapses in the register that was given to us by the political party. Some of the legitimate voters or delegates are not included in the register so we are trying to find a way out with the party executives to see if we can help,” he said to Citi News.
One of the aspirants, Joshua Alabi also could not locate his name in the register at Krowor but was eventually allowed to cast his ballot after EC officials intervened.
Prof. Alabi said for “someone who has been voting all his life here but cannot find his name in his constituency then you can imagine what will be happening to other people who are supposed to be voting.”
