Citi FM tops Ghana’s English Radio stations again

Citi 97.3 FM, has emerged the number one English-speaking radio station in Ghana in the 2018 GeoPoll audience ratings.

This is the third consecutive time the Adabraka-based radio station has led the annual ratings of the English market.

The station has also maintained its position as the second most listened to radio station in the Greater Accra region, with Peace FM leading the pack.

Peace FM leads the Greater Accra Region audience ratings with 96,000 listeners, followed by Citi FM with 84,000.

Rankings/Chart by Geopoll

Data from Geopoll also places Citi FM as the fifth most listened to radio station in Ghana in 2018, with an average daily audience of 474,000.

The top media outlets were determined using the daily data collected through GeoPoll’s Media Measurement Service, which has been measuring media audience ratings through mobile phone surveys in Ghana since 2014.

About Citi FM

Citi 97.3 FM is a private radio station based in Accra-Ghana. The station commenced commercial broadcasting in November 2004.

The station has a dominant presence in Greater Accra, Eastern, Central and parts of Volta.

Citi 97.3 FM employs English as its medium of communication and has a mix of adult contemporary music, news and talk programmes.

The station has won a series of prestigious awards since 2004 including BBC Africa Emerging Media House of the Year 2006, the CIMG Media House of the Year 2014, CIMG Digital Media Organization of Year 2016 and 2017

The “Citi Breakfast Show”, the flagship morning show, won the BEST INTERACTIVE TALK SHOW OF THE YEAR at the 2006 BBC Africa Radio Awards for Africa.

The show has also been adjudged the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana Radio Programme of the Year in 2016 and 2017.

In addition, the show won the Ghana Journalists Association Radio Programme of the Year 2017, with the host – Bernardino Koku Avle – winning the Ghana Journalist of the Year Award.
