The Minister for Regional Reorganization and Development, Dan Botwe, is not done yet despite the creation of the six new regions.
Dan Botwe was appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2017 to spearhead the creation of the regions.
Responding to suggestions that his work would end once the regions are created, Mr. Botwe told Citi News that the administrative process of getting the regions to run efficiently will still need his input until the President decides otherwise.
There was still some more “reorganisation and development” that needed sorting out, he remarked
“For now, the name of the capital has been announced but where should the regional minister go and stay?”
Ultimately, Mr. Botwe said the fate of his portfolio lay in the hands of the President.
“We work to the pleasure of Mr. President… once Mr. President hasn’t said he has collapsed it, we are still working,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo will continue the presentation of Constitutional Instruments for new regions with the Bono East and Ahafo Regions next in line.
The president presented the Constitutional Instrument for the Savannah and North East Regions on Tuesday, where the capitals of the two new regions were named.
Damango has been named as the capital of the Savannah Region while Nalerigu was named as the capital of the North East Region.
