The Kasoa District Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing residents of Budumburam Camp a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region.
The three are Abubakar Salam, Kwaku Darko Larbie and Peter Duodu.
They belong to a group of eight whose other members have been identified as ZulianAminu, NiiAttoh, Kingsley Chide, a Nigerian national, Karim Benzimah and Best also a Nigerian national operating at a backyard community in Budumburam.
According to ASP Obiri Yeboah, the Kasoa District Crime Officer, on February 24, 2019, the members of the gang met and planned two separate operations where they robbed a drinking spot and made away with a television set and assorted drinks worth Ghc2000 while another group also stole a motor bicycle.
Speaking to Citi News, ASP Obiri Yeboah indicated that the sharing of the booty created confusion among the gang leading to their arrest.
“At the moment, all of them have been remanded by the court and will reappear on April 3, 2019. The appeal to the general public, therefore, is that they should help us locate the five others who are on the run.”
Weeks ago, the Kasoa Divisional Police Command arrested 16 persons suspected to be criminals in an anti-robbery and narcotics operation in a bid to flush out criminals from the area.
Another suspect who was arrested in the raid was 21-year-old Prince Otoo who gave his profession as a ‘wee seller’.
He was also arrested with 21 pieces of a substance believed to be Indian hemp together with unwrapped quantities.
Kwaku Boadu, a 33-year-old unemployed man was also arrested with 150 pieces of some wrapped substance believed to be Indian hemp.
