Accra Hearts of Oak Head Coach, Kim Grant, has called on the fans of the club to be patient and measured in their expectations of the players ahead of the start of the Normalization Committee Special Competition.
After almost a year without football on the local scene, the beautiful game will return this weekend when the competition kicks off, with Hearts set to take on Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians, who have gone 10 years without silverware, will be under pressure to put an end to that drought by clinching the ultimate prize.
Despite the desperation on the part of the fans, Kim Grant, who admits his side want to finish as champions, also wants the fans to go easy on what he describes as a young and inexperienced playing body.
“I’ve only been here for three months, and I’ve brought in a lot of young players who have never been on such a stage before,” he said.
“So on that side of things, I need the supporters to be patient with them and give all the support they can, even if things don’t go well.
“It is important that every supporter understands the progress and direction that this club is going and get behind the team.”
Winner of the first tier of the competition will represent Ghana at the next CAF Champions league competition whiles the winner of the knock out stage will represent Ghana in the next confederation cup competition.
